You ask a lot of relevant questions here and the repetition of 'what happens then' makes it a reality.

The only suggestion I can make and, it's just my personal preference I'll add, I'd remove the ellipses from the first four stanzas and save them for the last stanza. I'd also separate it so it stands alone and maybe add a couple of capitals, like this

And when only SILENCE begins
to make ABSOLUTE sense
