The Swan Song

by Maple Tree   Jan 7, 2019

Speechless roses fall victim to winter
dormant; within cracks of frozen earth-

they wither away, bone and ash
accompanied by a lost silence.

two become one
life and death.

a petal struggles
to breathe midst harsh breezes
as twigs shake loose
a lonely hibernation.

Spring awaits
a tree looks down
upon the burial of a rose and whispers

"It's time to wake up my love"

There was one time, when I thought that a poem should be perfectly punctuated but as time passed I realized I was wrong. This give beauty to poetry, personalizes it and make the feeling so real!!
