"Desire" (Rondeau)

by Michael   Jan 21, 2019

Should Cupid pass, with hand and bow
I hope he’ll purge, my heart of woe.
So scarce is love, in where I dwell;
A sombre clime, I cannot quell
I yearn this archers face will show.

I hope his wings, the wind will blow
beneath the clouds i’ll wait below.
My hopes to rid this lovesick spell
.....should Cupid pass.

If arrows stray, for sure i’ll know-
i’ll languish in my status quo.
My heart will beat a sombre knell,
and echo loud within this shell.
But faith I’ll hold, that love will stow
....should Cupid pass.

Robin hood, robin hood riding through the glen...
    Lol
I was trying to write a Rondeau the other day and gave up after a few hours. I find if you use the wrong rhyming words, you quickly run out of material.
You though have made it look easy. I've read this out loud and it sounds superb. The refrain can sometimes sound forced, but again, yours flows well throughout.
    Super poem. Bravo.
