I let you go not knowing
Just what it was we had.
Just as I'd begun rowing
Down the lake
It was a thought of you I had.
Your face I can't describe--
Words are not invented
To explain what God created.
Sweet and gentle eyes,
Light brown in light.
The scent like honey dew
And mist from rising mornings
Like gardens sit within you.
Your hair like clouds of love,
Enveloping and all consuming,
As in air glides a dove.
That smile that sits
Comfortably in your face,
Like forest trees with roots deep
And quiet winter's grace.
Upon a glance I can't resist
But to smile and smile--
If only I could keep it for a while.
Your face like an eclipse
That blinds with love and charm,
And all who look can't help
But feel there is no harm.
I'm lost in thoughts of you
And of what was and isn't,
When yesterday left us
Deep and reminiscent.
You were standing by me always
And yet blind I was.
But now I see you there
With sweet flowers in your hair
And smiles like heaven's air.
If you should come tomorrow
With love upon your stare,
Don't forget these feelings
And that I truly care.
I'll sit here, with all-consuming thoughts,
Until I see you there.
