Love and Time Wait for Nothing

by Milly Hayward   Feb 11, 2019

Golden cells of honeycomb
that tastes sweetly on your lips
Salted breeze that smells of home
from great oceans sailed by ships

Time whisked away the pictures
those held closest to my heart
Perceived as loving fixtures
that would never break apart

Life and time have played us both
stripped off loves golden luster
Given us that hellish sloth
a life we couldn't muster

Distance took a ragged toll
that ripped all trust asunder
We lost sight of our goal
through nights of stormy thunder

Now love withers down to rest
in a bed of frosty spite
Eats away deep in my chest
loss comes not without a fight
