A very true sentiment. So long as you are at peace with yourself then nothing can ever destroy that inner self. I do enjoy very much your short pieces that pack a dynamic punch. Milly x

    Michael,

Glad to see you are still writing about self love because i have been going through a lot and i kind of needed to read this.

I always thought the mirror was a reflection of ones true inner self and that is why i was personally drawn to the title you have chosen. Sometimes when i look into the mirror i have PTSD because of my past however i have been reflecting on the happiness i have had as well. But i believe the title reflects an adult whom has an inner child that needs love or they want to love.

Most people are different and that is what makes us unique. So when i hear or see the world broken, a million things come to mind. From personal experience i think of broken as a broken past, through abuse, addiction etc. But that doesn't mean they are less of a person. In fact i think people who go through hardships are the strongest people i know.

I do agree that broken never means destroyed, it means we can put the pieces back together and become stronger than ever. And it feels like our inner child needs love when there was no love to be found in childhood.

Nobody else is going to love our inner child so why destroy it when we can give it our own love?

Overall i do love this poem because i can put my own ideas into it. The poem can mean different things to different people and in my own interpretation i connect to it so much because it is what i am going through now. Well done

Jamie, I'm so glad you've returned. I think as creative people we are luckier than some. We have an outlet for our woes and can help others and ourselves in the process. Your comment shows you understand this and know through pain comes strength of being kind to the vulnerable parts within.
      Take care, my friend.
