Very inspirational Milly and reminds me of a quote by E.E. Cummings...“It takes courage to grow up and turn out to be who you really are.” And like you say in your poem, it's better than being a sheep. This would be great advice to many kids today who are constantly being molded and influenced by social media everyday. |
Thank you Walter. I do think its quite tragic when people follow their peers or try and be someone that they are not. These people will not be real friends and at the first opportunity steer them into trouble or steer trouble their way. Being yourself and true to yourself is definitely better than trying to be a clone of someone else. Milly x |
Dear Milly what a true and inspiring piece. My motto was and is remain true to yourself. When I look at my granddaughters I watch them being busy trying to impress others or look like them. I keep telling them if you yourself or others can't accept the way you are then there is a problem. Beauty comes from within. Thank you for sharing and definitely goes in my favorite box. Much love |
Thanks Dagma very glad you liked it. Sadly there is so much pressure nowadays to conform to others expectations. Love Milly x |

Embracing ones true self and those special people around you is certainly worthy of note. I think today's generation struggle more with peer pressure. I hope your inspirational poem helps. |
Thank you Mr Darcy, I wrote it to be inspirational. There is far too much peer pressure on young people particularly with the social media. Take care Milly x |
different is always lonely. good reminder |
Thank you :) |
I think you nailed this poem you have to make yourself happy in life and be true to yourself because at the end of the day it is all you got yes you have friends and family and support but truly who hasn’t felt alone in a crowded room? I think this poem was written beautifully. Good work |

This piece is incredible! Great job Milly. "Sing to your own life's tune". I really like that phrase. |
Thanks Chelo, I am so happy to hear that you liked it. I do try and write uplifting poetry although from time to time it goes the opposite way. Take care and thank you for taking the time to comment. Best wishes Milly x |
I love the pantameter I once heard playing tennis without a net! That's how the non rythemic poems remind me of. Beautifully put! |
