A Crab in my Sandwich

by Milly Hayward   Feb 28, 2019

There's a crab sat in my sandwich
or so my dear husband said
its made itself a buttered niche
in the middle of the bread

I sneaked a silent stealthy peak
at the sandwich corner edge
and saw right there the little freak
sat inside my crusty wedge

He stared at me with nervous smile
I fell straight back in the chair
that crabs got nerves, a twisted style
sat smiling without a care

So what's your game? I asked the beast
you should now be mashed and dead
instead you sit inside your shell
in the middle of my bread

He sat there comfy in his nook
looked at me but never spoke
my husband laughed loud at my look
because it was only just a joke
