Baby Bird

by Brenda   Mar 10, 2019

Sweet baby bird
with your wings burned black
rest your weary heart
against this loving Maple
on such a cold and frightful night...
-
The storms wage on
battering you to and fro
makes you doubt
your strength
makes you question
your will...
-
It's ok, you know
this storm has been epic
even Mama Maple has
lost a branch or two
so it's ok
to be tired
to be sad
to be tempted to beg the earth
to open up
and swallow you whole...
-
But baby bird
although tiny in stature
and frail in form
you are a warrior
bands of steel
run through your veins
so rest awhile
gather your strength
the trade winds
call your name
guiding you home...

My dear friend, I sent it to Robyn first. I wanted her to have it first. I'm thanking you for allowing all of us to be a part of yours and her journey. I'm deeply touched and if some small way I can bring you peace and comfort. You mean the world to me- hugs you-
