Pause

by Sunshine   Mar 28, 2019

Music perished into dust
as I paused for a moment,
longer than a moment.
I slept at the edge of my coffee cup,
my eyes transfixed
lost in the little black pool.
Everything was solid.
The table silently breathed in
the cold tang of coffee-
which spoke bitterly
to the shy breeze that
knocked at the four walls
whistling nostalgia,
weeping for affection.
Passion was utterly motionless
Everything was lonely, in pain.

Only light moved.

I love this, Rania. My only suggestion would be a single dash instead of a comma after 'I paused for a moment' in line two as a comma doesn't serve up the length of pause I believe you are after. eg, 'I paused for a moment - longer than a moment'.
Anyway, just a suggestion. Well done.
