I remember the day so clearly
Every emotion that ran through
I remember the heart crushing feeling
When I realized there was nothing we could do

We knew that you were struggling
We knew you needed help
And we saved you many times
From this cruel hand that you were dealt

And I know I should have stopped
To make sure you were okay
Maybe I could have saved you
And I regret it to this day

I'll never forget the moment
I drove back up that road
I felt my heart come to a stop
I knew what was about to unfold

We all stood there waiting
To hear what was going on
But deep down we all knew
We knew that you were gone

If only we had been there
To catch you once again
Maybe you would still be here
We could have tried to stop your pain

    Beautifully written and well rhymed. This is such a sad and heartbreaking piece that will resonate with others who have lost friends and family in the same way. My brother sadly lost his best friend through similar circumstances and for years wrongly blamed himself for not being. The truth is that sometimes there is nothing that you can do. Sending you a huge hug and hopes for peace. Milly x
