Memories of Love

by Milly Hayward   May 5, 2019

Crash of sea against the shore
reminds me of times gone by
Seagulls spinning as they soar
amongst clouds in a deep blue sky

Gentle breeze across my face
like a lovers brief caress
Leaving just a tiny trace
of that time when I said yes

Breath seaweed in like perfume
for it carries home the sea
Sand the carpet for your room
that place I so longed to be

A tiny piece of heaven
with your hands entwined with mine
That day in sunny Devon
our love became divine.

    Sorry for this belated comment.
I like Devon, it's sweeping hills and sandy beaches. Your memories of your special place and events speak softly and tenderly. It's clear no one and amount of time can take these from you. Here on this page they are shared. Thank you. X

    Miss Milly,

Such a lovely piece, showing your emotions- using your senses to portray your emotions. Tells me so much about your love for Devon, and good reason.
    a nicely penned rhyming beauty, M :)x

Thank you Michael. That Devon beach is a special place because as teenagers we spent a lot of time by the sea and that beach is where my husband proposed to me :) x

Thank you Dagmar. There is something quite beautiful about the sea no matter where you are in the world. I grew up by the sea and I hope one day to return to it. Hugs and much love Milly x
