A Mile In My Shoes:

by Scott Cole   May 13, 2019

These shoes upon my feet
Were handcrafted just for me,
For the journey that I've taken
Was only paved for me to see.

For they only fit my story
So nobody else can walk in them,
Yet all they've put me through
Has made me into who I am.

They've climbed a many mountains
Weathered a many storms,
So they've been through a lot
That's why they're scruffy and torn.

So to you they may look tattered
A little rough around the edges,
But to me they're a blessing
That delivered me from the fringes.

Though their soles are wearing thin
From my continual misuse,
They both taught me life lessons
From those wayward ways I did choose.

Yet when I find myself misplaced
My every footstep lost or weak,
These shoes upon my weary feet
Have kept me humble and meek.

For my consequences embrace me
They mold and shape my faint heart,
And every step that I've taken
Has defined or set me apart.

So don't judge me on my efforts
Things I've done or yet to do,
Unless you've walked a beaten mile
In these here pair of shoes.

Really liked this and how very true, don't judge another unless you have walked in their shoes. Glad to see it nominated. Hugs Milly x

dude this is awesome its one of them poems you think … I was wish I thought of that … I think your mixture of hurt and pain with a sense of courage and wisdom in irreplaceable.

I try and put myself in peoples shoes and believe to a degree I can understand but in till you walk in the foot steps in the mind in the shoes of that person you wont completely understand because nobody lets you in to everything only what they want you to know.

    stunning write.
