I wanted to tell you that I’m damaged
From my myself, from my past
I wanted to tell you that I’m still hurt
Hurt and tired from everything that didn’t last

I wanted to tell you that you helped me move on
I smiled again, you did that
I wanted to tell you that you did all the right things
You hit every home run when you came to bat

I wanted to tell you that this wouldn’t last
That I would eventually just push you away
And even though I’d hurt myself in the process
There was simply no way you could stay

I wanted to tell you that I was sorry
Sorry that I had wasted your time
Sorry that I couldn’t d figure out what it is I wanted
And couldn’t simply speak my mind.

I wanted to tell you that I’ve dealt with too many guys
Too many guys that are all the same
Too many guys that start off promising
But in the end, they play the same game

I wanted to tell you that you deserved better
All I had to offer was a broken me
A me that only got worse over time
I wish it could have ended differently
