Dodging Potholes

by Maple Tree   May 16, 2019

My mind is controlled by
societies whispers - I hear
corruption down a street
that wishes to consume
a soul, that was buried
along with the bones
of the ones that warned
me about the dangers of
living.

I've longed to leave this world-

but the more I hear and see
the more I know deep in my
heart that I need to keep on
living and saving those lost
souls that have no idea
they are being consumed
by the giant potholes
that I dodge daily.

Love this, Maple. The tight formatting and the centering of it really works well and there is a bright ray of hope in this, especially at the end.
