The Difference Between You and Me

I may not have grown up like you
A life lived in one place
But I did grow up
At a much faster pace.

You may have grown up
With family by your side
But I grew up quickly
With nowhere to hide.

I see you went to school
And friends you easily made
Yet I went to many schools
And every time I was afraid.

I see you laughing and smiling
Going out with all your peers
Where as I cry and shutdown
Wishing I was never even here.

I see you got a new car
Again it’s your time to shine
As I just got new bruises
For speaking out of line.

I see you got your nails done
Your hair and makeup too
Did you notice what I received
A beating to the face or two.

I see it’s your birthday
A party for you, a special one
Where on my birthday
I prayed I’d see at least someone.

I seen you walking down the street
With new clothes in each bag
I wish I got something new
But I get hand-me-down rags.

I see your skin is flawless
Not a scratch or a zit
As I wear long sleeves
To cover up my slits.

I see you finally looked at me
Where normally you walked right on past
And I quickly looked down
To hide the black eye from night before last.

I seen the questionable look you gave
But it didn’t last for long
I wish I wouldn’t have stared
I know it was completely wrong.

Although what can I say
I send a prayer every night
Wishing I could have your life
And for everything to be alright.

I see the morning has come
For you to graduate with your class
I wish I was in your shoes
But I wait for misery to pass.

I seen the day you moved out
Family helping and wishing farewell
Hugging each other with tear stained eyes
It put me in quite a spell.

I see that you are loved by many
And I would never wish anything less
Go and live your life to the fullest
And I’ll just go and be put to rest.

Strong ... I believe strongly that anyone's life can change with the right mentality although
I do understand it's harder and almost impossible for some but I truly believe impossible does not exist...

And believe it or not no matter who you see as humans I believe we always want a better life regardless of how good we have it.

Deffo a favourite of mine... I think this will get people's opinions scattered in my eyes very thought provoking.

Sometimes it seems very unfair that one person has a better or worse start in life than another but what doesn't break us makes us stronger. Someone who has never faced adversity early on will be less able to survive difficulties on later in life than someone who has learnt from their experiences. Milly x

Thank you! I know from experience that going thru the pain and “unfairness” in life can make a person much stronger. I am happy with who I am becoming now. Still fighting my demons inside me now and then but they do not defy me!

Although some of us tread a much harder trail, one day, the experience gained because of that will be invaluable. A pampered life is overrated.

    All the best,

Thank you! Much appreciated! And I know that one day I will be able to look back many years from now and be proud of everything that I have overcome.
