A Tiny Piece of Zen

by Milly Hayward   May 17, 2019

As I walked over mossy plains
across much traveled rich terrains
smelled floral scents of natures air
sweet plants and flowers, many rare

At river's edge fast water's flow
I saw the gentle grazing doe.
Gazing up at cornflower skies
I heard the distant eagle cries

Beside me saw the buzzing bees
kissing flowers beneath the trees
In the West the sun was waning
dark of dusk was slowly gaining

Now time to leave this charming place
Though do so with reluctant pace
back to the mundane end of day
now relaxed in every way

Your poem made me think of a beautiful place I once visited and it was so sad when it was time to leave. Great job Milly!

Wouldn't it be lovely to be able to go down by the river and sit watching deer grazing and smell the wild flowers, hear the water bubbling and just stare at the sky.. That is nature's zen to me :)
