Karmic Influence

by Satish Verma   Jun 12, 2019

Under surveillance, the vegetable?
lives on ventilator.
All doors were shut? for the
dark? to remain inside.

The spastic breathing with?
rising chest, delivers the
nuances of death. Are you
sure? it was easier to live?

Asking the destiny to wait?
at the door. You can write
your own epitaph?
on the dust? for posterity.

I am coming home to collect?
your letters? you were
writing to me daily? but
never dared to post.

This is quite a dark piece. The title Khamic influence suggests that it is Kharma that the person is in the state that they are in. The painful daily existence of someone barely clinging onto life, only able to breath using a ventilator. Asking the question "Are you sure it was easier to live" adds so much hurt to the imagery. Its almost like saying was it worth it. The letters written daily but never sent again add to a rift that is still sore. I wonder what they will find in those letters and will it change their perspective? For if someone thought enough about them to have written daily but not had the confidence to send the letters there must be a lot of emotion and regret in them. An interesting and thought provoking piece. Milly x
