Needed Eggs

by Aegis   Jul 2, 2019

July has arrived with heated
winds and cheery
sunrises.

Yet I wake
with heavy sighs
and an even heavier heart.

The rain still leaks
from the ceiling in my head-

tiny little droplets dive into
buckets and pots.

I'd plug the holes
but the sound
lulls me to
sleep.

Aegis MA's favorite lines are also my favorites too. They stood out for me. Your last statement reminded me of winter when I keep the window half-open because the rain hitting on the sides helps me sleep and distracts me. Lovely poem.

I am SO glad I came back to this and read your comment from a few days ago because OMG Woody Allen! I did not make the connection with the title right away and was left thinking about the "needed eggs" meaning days ago. I had thought I'd heard it before and the meaning was just on the tip of my mind.

These are my favorite lines, like favorite in a long time. I can actually picture the leaks from the human brain, I can picture the dreariness and the movement to try to collect all the drops. All the thoughts. To be whole and patched up. But the sound is constant and puts you to sleep.

I know understand the depth of this in regards to the ebb and flow of a relationship, how there is the passion, excitement and adventure. How it comes close and tantalizes you, yet there may always be a downfall at some point. Something that perhaps isn't rational or has altered what you perceived your life would turn out like.

Then, I thought about this as one's analysis of their own mental health, how we have this leak and this leak to tend to, yet we leave it because maybe we're too tired or we're so used to feeling low that we don't know how to clear out the grey to make those blue, uncomplicated skies again.

Such a cool write! Thanks for sharing this beauty :)

So glad you got the Annie Hall reference! And I do enjoy your first interpretation in terms of a relationship, although the second description about mental health hits it right on the head;)
