Prisoners of Cell

by RustySoul   Jul 9, 2019

Heads keep bending down
Fingers move at a rapid pace,
An occasional smile or frown,
Unmindful of the place.

Too engrossed to converse
Oblivious to what's around,
Within their little universe
All 'happiness' is found.

To capture moments; to flatter
A perfect pose or a selfie pout,
As if only these matter,
That's what it's all about.

Friends now are scattered about
To the screens, their eyes are glued,
They all sit together around
And yet in solitude.

The real fun and pleasures of life
Everything gone for a toss,
All that fascinate and enthral
They find them inside that box.

They dwell solely in virtual world
Where they do all they can,
Witnessing perils gradually unfold
Since this world began.

Captivated by the charm
As if under the spell,
They live bound in shackles,
Happy prisoners of their 'Cell'.

My this was wonderfully penned! The rhymes the flow just carried me through the read. It's sad how we are all hooked with the "cell" even little kids where interaction is less making loneliness a major part of life. Welk done and Congrats on the win!

I wish I hadn't run out of nominations this is excellent. You've captured superbly the disease of technology that is slowly destroying society as we know it. Milly x
