Can You Imagine?

by Walter   Jul 14, 2019

Can you imagine living a life
Where we all get along
Where it's just our human spirit
That keeps us feeling strong

And instead of spending billions
On these weapons to fight wars
We are kind to other countries
And opened up our doors

Can you imagine if all the wealth
Isn't held by just a few
While so many are struggling
Just to try and make do

Where no one had to suffer
Because of where they're born
And poor innocent children
Are not raised to feeling scorn

Can you imagine if every body
Could enjoy a home cooked meal
Where we all shared our food
So the poor don't beg or steal

While we don't even finish
And the food is thrown to waste
Meanwhile all the homeless
Would just die to have a taste

Can you imagine feeling safe
When you go out at night
Not thinking about your safety
And coming back all right

When alone you see a stranger
You don't worry about your life
As so many people now
Seem to hold a gun or knife

I'm sure this place exists
To live a life for what it's worth
But sometimes I can't help but think
That it's not down here on Earth

Maybe all this happens somewhere else, Walter, but you are right: it doesn't seem to be here, does it?

    Excellent work and great rhyming.

Thanks Ben for the comment and yes, we can only hope for things to get better before becoming worse.
