The Everyday

by Lainie Reay   Jul 19, 2019

Drowning in the content of each hour, day and week.
Wishing for a signal or even just a peak.
A moment or a memory everlasting in our mind.
For a life that's only purpose is to love and to be kind.
There has to be more than this or something yet to show.
I hope the insanity of the constant doesn't win before we know.

'I hope the insanity of the constant doesn't win before we know.'

At first, I read 'insanity of the croissant' and was very amused. Jokes aside, this is a very true poem. Definitely thought provoking.

There's a really lovely flow throughout this. Keep writing. :)

That last line was the most thought-provoking to me. "The insanity of the constant". Usually people use the word "routine" but I like how you worded this. That desire for there to be a spark, something more, a sign or tilt in perspective. Does our love and kindness ever come back to us? Do we give and give yet never receive more than what's to be expected in the every day path of life?

Brevity worked so well here. Thanks for sharing (and welcome to PnQ!). Hope to read more from you soon.

Thank you for reading. You totally understood what I mean't. I did have constant and content the other way round but I liked them better this way.
