A Hogwarts Dream

There is a magic place where you can learn
where teachers can be fair but often stern
Closed to Muggles and to non magic Squibs
most people are signed from their baby crib

If I could get a pass for Hogwarts school
where I could have some fun and play the fool
I'd ask the sorting hat for Gryffindor
where magic skills are always set to soar

Talk to Hagrid about those Potter days
and how life's changed now in so many ways
Seek out those creatures people never see
Some kept for lessons in herbology

Heed voices from the paintings on the stair
play Weasley tricks we purchased fair and square
Go shopping in Hogmead for butter beer
and if we're lucky see the village seer

At breakfast start each day with happy cheer
listen to magic talk that I can hear
Owls deliver mail as they descend
Watch friendships grow and spot the magic trends

Id soar up to the sky on my new broom
with Hippogriffs and dragons I would zoom
avoid the bludger - chase instead the snitch
I would begin at last to be a witch

I'd practice waving round my magic wand
learn all about that world so far beyond
Cast spells and eat all flavoured jelly beans
where everyone just has that magic gene

If I could have a wish this would be mine
just get me to that place that's half plus nine
