I liked the jaunty tone of this poem and the rhyming. The initial idea of being surrounded by zombies in the darkest lobby instantly brought to mind the old style cinema lobby (like the one used in the Gremlins movie with the old style ticket booth at the door and the huge glass cabinet full of popcorn) Especially with the title of Zombie. However ...

The next couple of lines had me stumped initially because they didn't tie in with my first thoughts of what the poem was about a clear sign that I was completely on the wrong track so I had my ah hah moment and recognised that this was going to be so much more than my initial thoughts..

When the poem moved on to say "Everything gets corrected and nothing is respected" that immediately made everything start to fall into place and the final stanza clinched it.

Suddenly it became apparent that the character is stood in a work lobby surrounded by corporate zombie stereotypes. It is an environment where despite appearances things are not calm and he/she feels that they are being constantly criticized and not getting the respect that they feel they deserve. They feel trapped in a place that makes them feel unappreciated and frustrated to the point where they cannot face another year in this life. (it sometimes takes me a while to get into poems because I am a literal person lol) Great little write. Milly x

Thank you, and if you were wondering zombies are actually people (they have no brain so it's like a metaphor), and what I wanted to say with " Everything gets corrected / nothing is respected " no one is appreciated or respected and everyone is correcting others. For example people who are different they get "cut to size" or corrected.

Hope you have a wonderful day :)
