Force

by Alex Penuelas   Aug 2, 2019

You cannot force the words out in a poem,
any more so than you can force someone
to tell you that they love you.

Poetry, like love and laughter,
is an involuntary response to external stimuli,
a reflex that comes from
the sudden shocks of inspiration.

Hmm, here are my thoughts about it.

We definitely cannot force anyone to say they love us or to love us for that matter. However, the beauty of poetry (per se) is that we can force words and suddenly have a poem that may or may not sound force.

Form poetry is a great way to get the juices of inspiration going. Now, what kind of poem we are going to write ? we cannot force that... per se, unless we want the poem to sound force.

Sometimes we want to write someway but when we least expect it we end up writing something completely different. Inspiration came to the rescue.

Just adding my two cents. Thanks for sharing.

    Love this!

On a related note, they say that the act of smiling can actually improve your mood, so if one was to go through the motions of writing a poem, is the outcome a poem or would it just let the reservoir of words begin in us begin to flow so we can truly start writing. Just a thought that occurred to me while reading this poem. :)
