So Far Away

by Walter   Aug 6, 2019

What was once a life we shared
Where you and I only dared
Against all odds found each other
And madly fell for one another

It started like a fairy tale
Though sometimes even these will fail
How were we meant to know
That we were forced to let love go

They say that love will find a way
But this won't be if you don't stay
When you left I felt denied
It all came to what you decide

You're convinced this still will work
Although I could only smirk
To fool my heart that you are here
Even though you are nowhere near

I have tried to think this through
To waking without the sight of you
Your warmth whenever we entwine
And now we're forced to confine

I'll see you maybe twice a year
And this now is my biggest fear
I feel our love will succumb
If this is what we will become

My love I give you can't deny
I have always been standing by
But if you choose to live apart
You'll no longer live inside my heart

Another fine write, Walter, that's fraught with emotion throughout.

Long distance love works for a few people Walter, but I could never be one of them and I'd be saying the exact same words if I were put in this situation. Great poem! :-) x
