While others are sleeping

by Dagmar Wilson   Aug 20, 2019

The nights seem so long
a clock on the wall is moving slow,
certain spots of the floor is squeaking.
Who else is weeping?

I remember a flooded ashtray
playing with cigarette butts
drawing faces on my kitchen table,
now I'm having a glass or more.
I am empty.

I dream of me growing wings
flying across turquoise waters
landing in paradise.

A beautiful way of ending my journey
I am full.

As sad as this is, you have painted some wonderful imagery with your words, Dagmar.
Good to have you back on-site.

    Take care,

The night hours when you're struggling always move so slowly don't they? I could really relate to this Dagmar :-) x

The contrast of "I am empty" then ending with "I am full" gave me chills. The question of "who else is weeping?" is daunting because we can often become lost inside ourselves, to know that others are at this point to, however sorrowful, yet to know they are just trying to make it through too. Depression can make it seem like a way out, this "paradise" is the only option left, the only way we can be full.

This broke my heart and I send all my love to you <3
