Common Fears

by Walter   Aug 27, 2019

She stands in front of the mirror again
Changed her looks so many times
With still no idea on how to begin
She knows she's not in her prime

Has stayed single now for so long
Her failed marriage which fell apart
Constant profanity made her prolong
Letting anyone else in her heart

But she thought he sounded alright
A man she met on the train
She even gave him her number despite
Not knowing if she can do this again

And yes was surprised how quickly he called
To ask her out on a date
She said yes but now wishes she stalled
Emotionally she'll rather wait

She thinks maybe all he's looking for
A cheap night that ends up in bed
Deep down knows that she wants more
But probably has been misled

Already deciding she cannot do this
Sending a message to his phone
But part of her wonders what she will miss
While sitting here all alone

The man thought it's too good to be true
That a beautiful woman said yes
Resorts to what he already knew
When his ex told him he's worthless

Both have been hurt once before
And are finding it hard now to trust
A pity when true love knocks on your door
When ignored it turns into dust

An enjoyable tale. I wonder how often this happens in life pretty often I would imagine. Well captured Milly x

Thanks again Milly and it would be sad when don't know what you're missing by giving up too soon. x
