Something In The Air (Song)

by Maher   Oct 12, 2019

Rest in Winter's dark,
it's a long way 'til morning
when 6am would filter through these eyes.
A presence plagues the air;
her dress is still in mourning,
tattered like the sleep I've been deprived.

What sin am I upon,
what deeds have I undone,
to lay in bed sheets as it hunts me down?
Like a curse in the mirror,
there's something in the air
and I crumble as it leads me to the ground.

A prayer in a park,
the whisper of a stream:
they echo like a pin-drop in the breeze.
And there it fills the air;
she's written in the wind
that holds me rough and claims my right to breathe.

What sin have I become
to warrant being shunned
by ghosts that burden all who live this down?
Like a curse in the mirror,
there's something in the air
and I'm humbled as she lays me in the ground.

    There's such a haunting flow to this, I love when you share your songs and I can imagine this song softly to a guitar being strummed gently. The repetition is subtle and adds to the ominous voice, like the ghost who will not give you peace until you're in the ground. Such a heavy piece.

      Thank you, glad you enjoyed it. The guitar track is a little haunting in itself :)
