I Want to Hold Your Hand

by Lemon Squeezy   Oct 25, 2019

(A poem for my wife, my darling and my love! On our first anniversary.)

From the day our eyes first met,
‘Tis a memory I cannot forget,
At very first sight, At first glance,
I wanted to hold your hand, at any chance.

Though I didn’t for awhile after that,
I desired too, every time with you I sat,
We’ve had our share Ups and Downs,
And I still want your hand, all through the town.

Upon life’s mountain tops and in its deepest valleys,
On city streets and thru it’s darkest Alleys,
I want your hand in mine, all the way,
I want to hold your hand thru every day.

When we find ourselves on a road trodden less,
I’ll take your hand and lead you thru the mess,
When we find a fork in the path, a tough decision,
I want to hold your hand without rescission.

Thru every tough time and tricky situation,
I want to hold your hand without hesitation,
When Hope seems lost and you feel alone,
I’ll take your frightened hand, gently in my own.

When life is great and things are at their best,
When we catch a break and have a chance to rest,
When everything is chalked up to a win,
I want to hold your hand and soak it all in.

As time passes on shows us that we’re aging,
When life’s been cruel in the war that it has been waging,
With wrinkled hand and greying head,
I’ll take your hand, as we shuffle into bed.

And when we shed theses robes of sinful flesh,
And join Jesus on the Heavenly express,
When the final sentence of our life is told,
You ll be by my side and it’s Your hand I want to hold.
