Missing You

by Dill   Nov 3, 2019

A heart is halved in tears of joy,
And eyes then break upon your breast;
Once again I see your face,
And once again I find my rest.

How long since last I felt your smile?
Too long I think to call a while.
And now too long my mind’s been mad:
Full of metal, in sorrows clad.
But like the rain you bathe my eyes
And wash away my hardened gize.

And now again I see the mist:
You face is fled and here’s the dread;
Again I turn to face the day,
And feel as if I’m slowly dead.

And yet some spirit lingers here
And somehow expedites the tear,
That even now my face is wet,
And not with dread is heart beset.
That you were here is much enow
To help me face the fair and foul.

And if someday you fade away
And dawn the light we all call death,
I’ll see it all, the day and night,
For you were here and breathed in breath.
