She used me, I knew it at the time
True love is always blind
Everytime she seem to be free to date
I was always two steps behind
And five minutes too late
Men were always drawn to her
Her outer beauty, so consuming
The flames of my love never quit burning
The butterflies in my stomach never quit churning
We could have shared a long loving life
With me as her husband and she as my wife
But she could never see beyond tomorrow
Or let go of the unhappiness and old sorrows
To see we were destined to be together
And, although I am a romantic
I am not a beggar
There comes a time when the chase gets old
You must let your love go
So I freed her of my chase, but I still love her, I really do
I believe she realizes the mistake she made
But sometimes life gives us wisdom when it's to late
