The Silence

by Star   Nov 5, 2019

I shattered my glasses
between my palms,
as it pierced me
I bled out all
my buried emotions.

I leaped into my soul
and felt the void
that had refilled me,
to realize my thoughts
had gone dormant.

I became bruise resistant,
so I saved the remaining cries
as the new content of a
chapter yet to be lived.

This is just hauntingly beautiful. Up until that stanza, the poem was screaming of 'nothingness', how depression can chew us up / swallow us whole. Especially when you wrote 'my thoughts/had gone dormant.' I think a lot of us can relate to that: life has a way of ebbing us down and one day we just find ourselves a shell of our former selves.

Finding the strength to weather this storm isn't always easy, but you do indicate to everyone that you do with the line 'chapter yet to be lived'. It's not always easy to persevere but I'm glad that you are :)
