The Demon

by IzL   Nov 25, 2019

I wanted you and only you
But again and again you have shown me your truth
It calls you by name and it sneaks in your mind.
Your heart whispers no But it’s too late- you’ve been tied.

You’ve let the demon in.
It twists and it jerks and it stomps in your brain.
For a second you stop and think you can win
But it ends when it convinces you that this is it.
This is the best you can give.
You don’t fight it, you don’t question it and you see me get small, but really you’re just walking away from it all.

You’re too far away now, and I can’t catch up.
I cry and I hope it doesn’t take you too far.

I’ll always be betting on you love.

Touching write, it can be extremely taxing watching loved ones battle their demons.
