Muddy Water

by Obscure   Dec 5, 2019

The puddles by my window
softly shiver in the wind
The nest that housed black widows
Has now crumbled from within

The thunderclouds groan sadly
For they cannot hold the rain
Each treasured little droplet
hurtles back to earth again

The lightning rouses thunder
While the birds all hide away
Small children watch in wonder
as the trees all bend and sway

The sun seems nearly smothered
by the clouds that fill the sky
Yet rain cannot be bothered
to let sunlight filter by

The linen on the clothesline
now is soaked to dry anew
And grass below is showered
by more than its normal dew

Dark sediment is loosened
by the constant falling rain
The puddles by my window
have a dirty brownish stain

I love how Obscure is showing off her talent. The poem has beautiful soft rhythm and rhyme. I like how she described the process of which rain starts lightly, and at the end is pouring. I also like the images through out the poem; like the shivering puddles and the soaked linen.

This sweeping prose is full vivid imagery and personification" from shivering puddles to groaning thunder clouds. Wonderful word usage. Congrats on the nomination...well deserved
