Treasured Memory...

by Meena Krish   Dec 16, 2019

A youthful memory once buried in the
dunes of my heart breaks as waves
come crashing onto the shore revealing a
moment of smile which still stands strong,

Promised dreams not touched or tasted
but stored safely behind pining eyes
without delay fills the brim and spills
writing down my cheek a love song,

Thoughts which slipped from my grasp
blooms feverishly while exchanged words
put away high up on mind's shelf
silently falls into my palms after so long,

Those treasured memory of my first love
which refuses to be forgotten or let go off haunts
and each time its remembered, pain wonders
why fate made this right love go wrong....

Lovely to read a new poem from you, Meena. Isn't it funny how first loves always seem to affect our lives more than any other and yet they are so fleeting so often.

Take care and all the best as ever.
