There's a Penguin in my sandwich box

by Milly Hayward   Dec 22, 2019

Theres a penquin in my sandwich box
he's wearing bright green socks
he wasnt there at lunchtime
or when I set my clocks

He must have sneaked in later
when I went to do my shop
to get some fizzy sprite
and a nice delicious chop

I looked at him and he looked back
then charged fiercely at me
jumped up and hit me on the nose
and then he wrestled free

He skipped around the sandwich box
and off the table top
then scampered out of the door
with a jump and skip and hop

My rage was full I can't deny
as the blighter stole my purse
I leapt and grabbed and caught his foot
as he squealed a hollow curse

Reluctantly he returned my things
with the devil in his eyes
that evil bird he pecked me
and took me by surprise

I'd dropped my guard, was taken in
he took off, at high speed
I looked around but he was gone
but on my lunch he'd wee'd

    Hello Milly,
Humour on Earth, presented by Milly Attenborough as she takes us on a series of unnatural events in a lunchbox.
Comedy at its poetic best. Excellent!
    Kind regards, Tony.

This makes me think of the Wallace and Gromit episode of a pesky penguin who looked all innocent but was actually a thief. (My son watches it on repeat.)

Lovely poem, made me laugh. Thanks for sharing! x
