Shitty Poetry

by Kate   Jan 6, 2020

It feels like ages since we’ve talked
But I can still see your smile in my head
Every time I close my eyes or breathe
I remember every time we’ve fought
Every hurtful word you’ve ever said
But you swear you never meant to hurt me

I remember how your lips form a smile
And how the wrinkles line your eyes
As our days were filled with laughter
And though we haven’t talked in a while
What sticks with me most are all the lies
And how you’d laugh about them after

See, I meant it when I said forever
And that I’d do anything to keep you close
But you were preoccupied with your needs
You never thought of me, not ever
When you’re what my mind wandered to most
And now my broken heart still bleeds

I don’t know what to do to forget
To will away all of our beautiful memories
That time has not done much to heal
I’ll try to forget about the day we met
And replace your image as one of an enemy
For I have nothing left for you to steal

I can’t stop your thought from taking over me
So now all I do is write shitty poetry

Wow...a very emotional read and everything but what the title suggests. I'm sure a lot of people will relate to all your feelings within each line of this poem. A heartfelt write.

You know, I'm reading this and trying to figure out how it relates to the title. I still can't. The struggle to find shitty poetry in this piece is real.

I can relate to this one though, I've been through most of it and can vouch that it ain't pretty. But I do know that if you're patient enough, it'll toughen you up over time and you'll look back at it in a different light. Silver linings can turn to gold, even before you grow old :)
