offing.

by prasanna   Jan 30, 2020

“your clavicle is the horizon
I always swim towards”.

your tides churn warmth just
the same, your offing is
infinitely intimate;
and by that i mean,
your waters are ineffable.

sometimes i aspire to be the
lightkeeper, tending to the
watchfire to keep your shores
safe from the madness
longing to live in you.

other times – i pray to get
caught in your whirlpools.

people have littered their
hardships in you &
you swallowed them,
unaware of the fact
that they never
settle on bedrock.

i cup your waters
with a soft longing,
i know -

i’ll never fully experience
you.
