the dreamer

by prasanna   Feb 2, 2020

with a poem in my heart,
and wine in my belly,
you’ll have to excuse one
for dreaming, it’s inevitable.
the pink skies are no help either,
i mean, have you ever seen
the clouds like that?

deliberately folded in on one
another, scattering everything
except the deepest mauves,
brightest pinks and fire.
it begs – no demands attention,
i almost run into the person in
front of me, their gaze is tethered
anywhere else except at the sky,
can you imagine?

a stream of people
wading their way home;
i wonder what awaits them home,
is their home filled with love? the
type of love that’s patient, warming;
waiting for you to walk through
the door after work, a weighted
security blanket during duress,
asserts itself always through
quiet means. i digress –

with a poem in my heart,
and wine in my belly,
you’ll have to excuse one
for dreaming.

    How can one have words? I love how you almost stop yourself, mentioning how you're digressing, and yet it's in these moments that truly bring out the wonder and awe we sometimes don't have in life. The question of "i mean, have you ever seen the clouds like that?" puts my heart at ease, and is a lovely moment, especially when nature around us is so astounding that we just have to stop and marvel at it, at the way we placed in this world and the greatness around us.

    Such precious, wholesome verses <3
