A Little Weight

by mossgirl19   Feb 12, 2020

I know the sleepless nights are past and so are the wet beds
Now you talk to me like you can earn your own bread!
You're hilarious when you do that-

You won't fully comprehend what mama went through
and you mess the house and leave me with so much more to do
You never made my life easy!

Every time you wrap your little hands on me when you go to sleep
I feel the weight of this one life I'm bound to keep
And to make worthy

No, I did not regret the day I added a little weight on my belly
Step up in life and call myself a mommy
You are the meaning of my existence.

I stopped asking if the world will ever be a better place
For nothing could be better than a little weight from your embrace.

    Hello mossgirl,
A beautiful poem of endearment. The warmth of your words enraptures the reader with a mother’s love. You have an enchanting style, natural and knowing. A lovely, lovely poem.
    Regards, Tony.

Becoming a parent was the most special thing that happened to me. From that first kick, cry, laugh and step my life has been the best. I love your poem. X
