The full moon was propelling
light towards the silky sand dunes
where lovers scattered, laying on
spread jackets, and the wind
was gentle and promising of a clement
autumn. My heart was listening
when five kids played Sharks and
Minnows in front of me, and tossed
unfeigned laughs all over the place,
as if god wanted to laugh and
sent the laugh through their throats.
I buried my toes in the sand, and
let my hair go free
like the wind.
