Chained

Chained

While I was having a walk
With none beside me to talk
Burdened with society's laws
Thoughtful about all my flaws

Disturbed by all the conflicts I wore
And the lack of peace, I saw on shore
A fisherman with clothes torn
As life had left him forlorn

I neared to behold his tanned face
Where a serene smile took place
I envied the tranquility he wore
As if he owned the whole shore

He looked at me, "how are you son?"
In silence and in words he won!
"I'm fine" I said and then I asked
About the secret which his smile masked

His eyes were drawn to the open sea
Then they looked and smiled to me
"As free as the open blue you see
I lived, and if I die, I'll die free"

Thank you so much obscure, for stopping by and for sharing this lovely comment. I totally agree with your points, yes we worry too much, and this robs us of our peace. And through freedom, we regain what is robbed.

This is a fantastic, thought-provoking piece. The blessings of prosperity often come with a curse. We are almost eternally the prisoners of fear. We may be worried about keeping our good name (what people think of us), or we may be worried that we'll lose our prosperity or use it unwisely. But worry doesn't help us keep what we have, and it instead robs us of our peace. The fisherman is wise to recognize his freedom from worry, and we would be wise to seek that same peace. Thank you for sharing!
