The Dark Harmony Between Reality and Youth

by Star   Mar 4, 2020

I saw her wear her
dark night secret
on her sleeves
in that ugly classroom
every week.

Her lips
uttered words to him
that I wasn't
supposed to hear,

yet they both were
well aware of me.

He lied to her
"A crab grows out of its shell
so does your insecurities"
he said

she sighed
and her posture crashed
in that abyss front raw.

He faced the two of us,
fixed his eyes on me instead.

I tried to speak,
they both chewed
on my words.

"You don't get it"
she murmured.

In that messed up conversation
the truth wasn't told;

you only learn to coexist.

I know I've read this before, but re-reading it again and damn.

I genuinely have no words to say, the poem itself is vague makes one think about what was said, although there are slight clues given, it's something a lot of people can relate to, I think. This is genuinely perfectly written, you captured that feeling of getting exposed to something in your youth that you weren't prepared for.

I am shocked!! This isnt supposed to be perfect, but maybe thats why you said it is?

I was trying to capture the situation without telling too much.
It isnt something real bad that happened, but I believe the impact of that conversation on that girl was so negatively huge, it shouldn’t have ended abruptly. And I should have said more.
