“ I feel twice my age,
    though I'm only half that”

Those two lines wow, they sum up the poem in an impactful way.

Read this a few days ago and meant to comment. I found lots of layers in this: bitterness, yes, some humor or sardonic comments, yes, but also an acceptance at the end? The reality that this is just what you've noticed, and it's not how others may talk of their own aging - with elegance, beauty, grace, when really, what does that even mean?

Liked the unique juxtaposition of the "aging like fine wine" expression.
This read with almost a nonchalance too, that you can't necessarily change it, so accept it or move on.
Was not expecting this piece but enjoyed it all the same!

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. Funny what happens when you notice yourself getting older :)

    Hello Maher,
Your matter-of-fact style eases the reader along into the humour, seriousness and recognition of growing old in a very fine poem indeed. At my age, I know exactly how you feel. A most enjoyable read. Well done.
    Take care now, Tony.
