napowrimo: in midst of midnight. (day one)

by prasanna   Apr 2, 2020

the days patinas into night more readily
this time around; offering four hours of
moonlight to each hour of sunlight.
a temporary haven that stirs the soul
into action; more time to dream of you,
to write of you into the infinitely
impossibly soft hours of dawn.

i felt my soul split from my body,
and chase after you into the multiverse.
every version of you, shimmering,
multi-hued, collapses into one body.
i stretch my hands towards yours and
fall
.....into the
............contin
...................uum.

i kneaded verses of you and left them
to proof; i know i have a tendency to
obfuscate feelings through verses but
if you saw yourself through my eyes,
you wouldn’t be as hard on yourself.

i know night will break soon
but a part of you will remain
somewhere in the infinity i
managed to peer into.

It's nice to see that you are doing something for NaNoWriMo. I've always appreciated your works. Okay intro over - here's the comment: firstly I think it's cool you used the phrase proof - I've noticed that during this lockdown and chaos people are baking bread. So the timing made me laugh. Also, your intro for this piece was stunning. Especially "a temporary haven that stirs the soul
into action; more time to dream of you, " Thank you for penning this.
