napowrimo: never enough (day 8)

by prasanna   Apr 8, 2020

we cross the meadow, astonished
in part by the beauty of it. the river
lazily hums its ode, and there we
were, like two transposed roses,
each with a unique arrangement of
petals and thorns, glistening in the
evening light. wine-a-plenty, verses
spilling like honey from a parched
tongue, we finally find the courage
to sing to our heart’s content.
our roots inch towards
inosculating, as we fertilize
ourselves with parts of our
souls.

the truth blossoms; i needed you
to stir life in me, you wanted me
to pull you towards the light.
you are everything i found
beautiful in this world,
i'm everything you wish
the word was.

you break from song:

‘i wish he were you’

i know.

    Transposed Roses:

    The river keeps flowing
with hardly any memory at all
of the days I wore ruts into
    its clay stained shores.

    You probably don't flinch
at the mention of my name
    even though our circles
    still intersect frequently.

And I kept nothing of you
    through the moves. Nothing
at all because, well, how could I?
Yet, I wish he were you -

truly as much as I love him
    I miss our patterns and
the way the river healed us
    from separate things - together.

Okay with that out of my system, I love this. It's a fantastic piece that brought me some much appreciated tears. Now, off to read Rania's piece!

Hey, nice! I love reading this, phenomenal work as always. Although this might've been unintended, your poems form a sort of loose narrative that I absolutely adore, and like Star said, eight days in and they just keep on getting better. I hope you have a good day. ^^

OMG no that's not inspired by that poem not even partly. You make my heart ache. This is very touching and yet the wording is just at another level.
