Words matter, ask your children

by Glenn G   Apr 20, 2020

There he was, just a boy of ten,
He had his whole life ahead of him.
Careless adults, with a reckless mouth,
Began to speak words that loaded him with doubt
It was not because of lack of love,
Not because they meant to cause pain.
But pain in the years when a child is maturing,
Can soon become a stain.
Stains once they are set in, seldom come out.
They just keep on feeding that boys doubt.
Soon he was an introvert.
And then a loner.
If it weren't for his values.
He would have walked the streets, homeless.
And would have become another stoner.
He fought the battle inside on his own.
Returned each day to a house that never felt like home.
His anxieties grew.
In crowded places he had to find somewhere to hide.
He was forty-five before he ever felt right.

Words matter to a little one who is growing.
If you think they don't listen you are wrong and unknowing.
Listen to your words before they become sound.
And ask yourself if they are words to make your child proud.

Words are powerful. Words can speak life into a soul or they can speak death.
