A Ramble Through Isolation

by cassie hughes   May 7, 2020

A walk,
Through lonely lanes in quiet solitude
Where nature comes at last into its own.
The peace,
I find this hour allotted to my self
Proves balm to weary mind and aching bones.
My feet,
Make way unguided, whilst my mind runs free
And flitters where it may on painted wing.
The sky,
Contains no trails to mar its cyan hue
But acts as stave on which birds hang their song.
I breathe
In air untarnished by baked fossil fuels,
As pace by pace replaces heedless speed.
This life,
I took for granted now holds me in sway
Its sights and sounds before I did not heed.
This walk,
Has shown I can endure myself alone
Surrounded by creations wonderous gauds.
In peace,
Renewed by all this landscape has to give
I wander back through isolations doors
