Dayspring

by cassie hughes   May 11, 2020

Slowly awakes the dawn,
Her chorus, spilling out in notes of joy,
contains the simple pleasure of feeling fresh
new air ruffle through feathers
musty from cloistered rest.
Dew drops sparkle
in her early glow, showering tiny rainbows
over earths living canvas
as it slips and scurries beneath their vivacity.
Daylight creeps,
with fingers slow caress to caution night time
lovers it is time to hide away existence
and make way for those diurnal
dwellers looking to hold sway.
Then morning blooms at last,
and nature turns its head to witness golden light
supplanting moons pale glow as day springs forth,
full sound and colour vibrantly ensue.
